Baukje (Bee) Kothuis

Baukje ‘Bee’ Kothuis is a design anthropologist with vast experience in multidisciplinary collaboration projects with academia, government, business, and industry. She has worked with a diverse range of parties in both Texas and the Netherlands to connect expertise and knowledge in multiple domains.

Water management, hydraulic structures, sustainable port design, flood risk reduction and resilience strategies have been her focus in the past decade, and now she’s eager to also ‘dive’ into the domains of Life Sciences & Health, Energy, Agriculture, and Sports.

Previous to this new role, Baukje founded B Business Energy, Amsterdam in 2002, a consultancy bureau advising, producing and coordinating book-publications, workshops, conferences, exchanges and other events and projects related to water governance and flood risk research & management. While pursuing her PhD in Science, Technology and Society Studies as an independent researcher, she co-founded WATERWORKS in2008, a research and consultancy bureau within the knowledge domain of the Dutch approach to water management and flood safety.
