Can you tell us something about Xyrec?
XYREC’s motto is the Empowering Robot Technology Pioneer. We have developed a robotic system that can ablate paint from aircraft with the most powerful laser in the world. The robot is a huge system capable of reaching up to 21m in height. The technology enables a fast, precise process with no pollution, no chemicals, and no more health risks.
Why did Xyrec choose Texas to expand its business?
As the robot was designed under the leadership of XYREC by the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, it was a logical location to start the assembly and testing of the robot. The local Port authority supported the construction of the new facility.
What kind of advice can you give to Dutch entrepreneurs who want to do business in Texas?
In general, Texians are both feet on the ground, with no-nonsense, friendly people. So, know your story, keep it simple, and you will get the proper attention. The US climate for entrepreneurs is very welcoming, but, as everywhere, you have to learn the peculiarities of the business culture as it is a transactional-oriented business approach.
Any other comments that you would like to share with us?
We introduced some Dutch human resource management styles in San Antonio. Our people are well respected by management, paid so they don’t need a double job, have full insurance coverage, have education objectives per employee to develop talent, and teaming goals to operate together. This people management is part of the ‘work’ formula XYREC brings to the table.
