Twelve Dutch health technology companies have been selected for the first TMC Netherlands BioBridge cohort. Starting in October 2026, the companies will gain direct access to the Texas Medical Center ecosystem as they prepare to expand further in the United States.

The cohort brings together Dutch innovators working across medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, surgical technology and regenerative medicine. Although their technologies and development stages differ, all twelve companies share a serious ambition to build partnerships and establish a long-term presence in the U.S. healthcare market.
Direct Access to the Texas Healthcare Ecosystem
The TMC Netherlands BioBridge is designed to help Dutch companies better understand and navigate the complexities of entering the United States.
Over the course of the program, participants will make three intensive visits to Houston. They will work with entrepreneurs, clinicians, hospital leaders, mentors, investors and other experts from across the Texas Medical Center ecosystem.
The program will address important elements of U.S. market entry, including regulatory strategy, clinical evidence, reimbursement, procurement, customer identification, company building and fundraising. Individual mentoring and targeted introductions will help each company translate these insights into a market strategy that fits its technology, development stage and ambitions.
For the participating companies, the BioBridge is much more than a general introduction to the United States. It provides an opportunity to test assumptions, receive candid market feedback and begin building relationships with potential clinical champions, customers, partners and investors.
A Bridge Several Years in the Making
The partnership gained further momentum when a senior TMC delegation visited the Netherlands during HLTH Europe. Meetings with Dutch healthcare companies, investors, research organizations and public-sector partners helped deepen mutual understanding of the strengths and needs of both ecosystems.
At the Dutch pavilion, representatives from TMC Innovation discussed the opportunities available to Dutch startups and scale-ups seeking to enter the U.S. market. A dedicated networking lunch organized by NBSO Texas, RVO and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington DC brought together TMC representatives and a broad group of Dutch health technology entrepreneurs.
The next major step followed during the Dutch Life Sciences & Health mission to Texas in September 2025. More than 35 Dutch MedTech and Digital Health innovators visited Houston and Austin, meeting hospitals, innovation centers, investors, business organizations and healthcare experts.
In Houston, the delegation visited TMC Innovation, Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann Health System, Portal Innovations and the TMC Venture Fund. Several companies that participated in this mission are now part of the first BioBridge cohort.
The mission demonstrated that there was strong demand among Dutch companies for a more intensive and longer-term market entry program. It also allowed the Dutch partners and TMC Innovation to begin developing the structure, focus and financial model for a dedicated Netherlands cohort.
From Agreement to Implementation
A decisive breakthrough came during the visit of Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the USA Birgitta Tazelaar to the Texas Medical Center in early 2026. During the visit, the partners were able to confirm that the financing was in place to move forward with the first cohort.
From that point onward, the focus shifted from exploring possibilities to implementation. An open call was launched in the Netherlands, followed by an online information session and a competitive application process. The applications were reviewed by the Dutch partners and TMC Innovation, with shortlisted companies participating in interviews both during HLTH Europe in Amsterdam and online.
The final twelve companies were selected based on factors including the relevance of their technology, company maturity, U.S. market potential and ability to benefit from the TMC ecosystem.
Coordinating Ecosystems across the Atlantic
The BioBridge shows that successful internationalization programs are rarely created by one organization alone. The development of the cohort required close coordination between the Texas Medical Center, Invest International, RVO, Health~Holland, Task Force Health Care, ROM-Nederland, NBSO Texas and regional partners, with support from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Miami.
NBSO Texas has served as a local connector throughout this process. By maintaining the relationship with TMC Innovation, bringing together the relevant Dutch organizations and aligning expectations on both sides, NBSO Texas helped translate the original partnership into an operational program.
This stakeholder management covered everything from program design and financing to company selection, communications, timing and connections with the wider Texas healthcare ecosystem. Maintaining momentum while allowing each organization to contribute its own expertise was essential to reaching this milestone.
The Beginning of a Longer Journey
The first cohort will begin its BioBridge journey in October 2026. During the months that follow, the companies will refine their U.S. market strategies, develop local relationships and explore concrete opportunities for clinical validation, commercialization, investment and growth.
The launch is an important milestone, but it is not the final destination. The wider ambition is to create a lasting connection between the Dutch and Texan healthcare innovation ecosystems: one that supports Dutch companies entering the United States while also opening doors for Texan organizations interested in the Netherlands and Europe.
For the twelve selected companies, that bridge is now ready to be crossed.
