In the heart of the United States, Soccerex, one of the world’s premier football business events, recently unfolded its magic, shedding light on the immense potential and growth of the sport in the USA.
Sport in the Netherlands is a powerhouse known for its substantial investments in innovation, its commitment to sustainability, its exploitation of the commercial side of sports, and the creation of a top-notch sports culture. Amid this dynamic landscape, and the 2026 FIFA world cup coming to Texas, soccer has emerged as the fastest-growing sport, presenting a lot of business opportunities for Dutch SME’s.
The Netherlands Shines Bright at Soccerex
Among the many attendees, the Netherlands stood out prominently, – not only because of the bright orange booth – but also thanks to a multi-year strategic partnership between the public-private initiative SportsNL, the consulate in Miami, and Soccerex. This collaboration underscored the international reach of Soccerex and demonstrated the commitment of nations to advancing soccer on a global scale.
A highlight of Soccerex was the presence of living legend Johan Neeskens as Sports ambassador for the Dutch delegation. Johan Neeskens was part of the game changing soccer generation together with Johan Cruijff, he played two FIFA World Cup finals with the Netherlands national team in 1974 and 1978 and won 3 European Championship with Ajax between 1970 and 1974,
