During CERAWeek 2025 in Houston, NBSO joined a high-level Dutch delegation to explore one of the world’s most influential energy platforms. The central theme this year: building the transatlantic hydrogen corridor between the Texas & Louisiana Gulf Coast and the Netherlands.
Together with the Consulate General in Miami, the Dutch Embassy in Washington, NFIA, the Port of Rotterdam, and the City of Rotterdam, we presented a united Dutch presence that resonated strongly with American partners. This joint approach proved highly valuable, showcasing the Netherlands as a well-coordinated, reliable partner on both national and local levels.
A key milestone of the week was the Dutch networking reception hosted by the NBSO Texas team at ION Houston. The event brought together the Dutch delegation and influential Texan stakeholders in energy and innovation. It created an ideal platform to connect, share ideas, and lay the groundwork for future collaborations. Together with our Dutch colleagues, we established a strong platform for a Texan delegation to visit the World Hydrogen Summit (WHS) in Rotterdam this May, and strengthened and expanded the foundation for Dutch hydrogen missions to Texas, Louisiana, and Canada in November 2025.
Throughout the week, we attended sessions at CERAWeek’s AGORA, where global leaders and innovators discussed key technologies shaping the future of energy. From green hydrogen to carbon capture and digital infrastructure, the AGORA proved to be a powerful setting for new ideas and unexpected encounters.
The City and Port of Rotterdam were key players throughout the visit, underscoring their role as Europe’s energy gateway. They engaged in strategic discussions with U.S. energy leaders—particularly in close coordination with the Port of Corpus Christi, Greater New Orleans, and the Center for Houston’s Future at the Greater Houston Partnership. These high-level exchanges are essential to strengthening transatlantic energy ties and driving momentum in the emerging hydrogen economy.
CERAWeek 2025 served as a powerful catalyst for Dutch-American collaboration on hydrogen, energy innovation, and coastal resilience. With the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam this May and a hydrogen mission to Texas, Louisiana, and Canada in November, the momentum is strong and the path forward is clear. Be sure to check the RVO website for upcoming mission details—and keep an eye on the NBSO Texas and RVO websites for the launch of our brand-new market scan, “Texas as a Powerhouse of the Clean Hydrogen Economy – Opportunities for Dutch Businesses,” which will debut during the WHS in Rotterdam!
