A Dutch Perspective on coastal protection

On April 28-29, our Chief Representative, Bee Kothuis participated as a speaker for the 10th SSPEED Conference “Post-Harvey Climate & Flood Impacts on the Built Environment” organized by Rice University and SSPEED Center in Houston.

During this event, she presented a Dutch perspective on Coastal Protection and potential collaboration in this area between Netherlands and Texas for the triple helix or Golden Triangle: business, knowledge institutes, and government.

The Severe Storm Prediction, Education, and Evacuation from Disasters (SSPEED) Center were established in 2007 as a university-based research and education center. Led by Rice University, the SSPEED Center organizes leading Gulf Coast universities, researchers, emergency managers, industry leaders, and private and public entities to better address severe storm prediction and its impact on the region.
