The World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam once again confirmed its status as a global meeting point for the hydrogen economy and this year, we were proud to see a strong and engaged delegation from Texas participate in the event.
Coordinated by the Center for Houston’s Future and supported by the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C. and NBSO Texas, the Texas delegation kicked off its visit with a broader hydrogen-focused program across the Netherlands. The journey began in Groningen, the heart of the Hydrogen Valley, where delegates explored regional developments, including a visit to the Eemshaven port and Green Planet, a multifuel energy station that already features green hydrogen for cars and trucks.
The group then headed to Rotterdam for the World Hydrogen Summit, where high-level exchanges took place in expert roundtables, policy work sessions, and throughout the buzzing exhibition floor. There, Texas participants connected with global leaders and explored key developments in hydrogen innovation and infrastructure.
The City of Rotterdam, represented by Vice Mayor Robert Simons, and the Port of Rotterdam, led by CEO Boudewijn Siemons, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and hosted meaningful conversations around shared ambitions and the future of the Transatlantic Hydrogen Corridor. The atmosphere throughout the visit was filled with optimism and a strong sense of mutual opportunity.
A special highlight of the week was the launch of our newest publication: “Texas as Powerhouse of the Clean Hydrogen Economy – Opportunities for Dutch Businesses“, a market scan commissioned by NBSO Texas and the International Clean Energy Partnership (ICEP). The report outlines concrete opportunities for Dutch companies in the rapidly growing hydrogen sector in Texas.

The mission will concentrate on cutting-edge themes such as liquid hydrogen, storage, and transportation.
