We are pleased to share the news that Houston has won the bid to host the World Petroleum Congress in 2020. The last time the triennial World Petroleum Congress was held in the United States was 30 years ago in Houston.

Mayor Sylvester Turner, the U.S. WPC Bid Committee chaired by Galen Cobb, Vice President of Industry Relations at Halliburton, and Visit Houston, worked tirelessly to make this happen. The Partnership has been supportive of this effort for many years. Houston’s bid for the WPC has been a frequent topic on the recent trade missions to Cuba and Mexico.

Houston is an ideal place to convene global thought leaders to discuss innovation, technology and global issues shaping the future of the energy industry. This is a major win that further demonstrates Houston’s position as the energy capital of the world.
